In 1990, several members of the City of Fellsmere, FL were very concerned about the fact that there was no funding source available for the recreational needs of the children in Fellsmere. The Frog Leg Festival was a result of that concern and the brain child Fran Adams. She and local residents guessed frog leg dinners might be unique to entice folks to the city. Not realizing the draw of this event, some committee members helped set up the event and then went to the movies. Several Hours and 400 dinners later the frog legs were sold out! Newport’s Christmas Boat Parade has been judged one of the top ten holiday events in the country by the New York Times. The boats promenade along a 14-mile route and range from modest small craft to imposing trophy yachts.
